There are many ways to LOVE HAITI. Below are organizations that Rolling Hills has partnered with and/or has confidence in that provide different aspects of disaster relief. Check out their websites for more information.
DELTA Ministries International (DELTA) (www.deltaministries.com)
• DELTA Ministries is partnering with Missions Door, which already has
people on the ground in Haiti, and with CBAmercia to mobilize and host
short-term mission teams that will be involved in relief and rebuilding
work in the immediate and near future.
DELTA Ministries International (DELTA) is an interdenominational
evangelical organization that supports U.S. and international local
churches by specializing in short-term and mid-term missions.
Fellowship of Christian Farmers,
International (www.fcfi.org)
• Give to the relief fund
Fellowship of Christian Farmers, International (FCFI) is coordinating shipments
of rice, edible beans, soy protein, cooking oil, and medical supplies to
support the relief effort of Haitian Christian Ministries in Northern Haiti,
where FCFI members have helped build the Pillatre Christian Center since 1985.
Food and medical supplies are needed to expand the Center’s feeding program and
to stock the medical clinic. It is estimated that one 40-foot container full of
supplies will need to be shipped from Bloomington, Ill, each month. The
containers are being purchased so they can remain at the Pillatre Center for
needed storage during the earthquake relief effort.
Food for the Hungry (www.fh.org)
• Give to the relief fund
Food for the Hungry staff are on the ground and need your help to mount
the huge relief effort that is going to be required for this disaster.
Disease will be the next killer... and that will begin within days.
We're already distributing blankets, rolls of plastic for temporary
shelter, solar-powered flashlights, community water filters, jerry cans
to collect water, and hygiene kits. On the way are clothing, more
plastic sheeting, medical supplies, water purification tablets, water
and food.
Forward Edge International (FEI) (www.forwardedge.org)
• Give to the relief fund.
• Forward Edge is collecting names of people who would like to go to Haiti in the next months/years to serve on short-term missions teams. FEI plans to be involved in the long-term, Phase II recovery effort—long after the first responders have left and after Haiti is out of the headlines.
By mobilizing hundreds of people each year to participate firsthand in our long-term, need-meeting projects, we empower individuals, churches, campus fellowships and businesses to be "the hands and feet of Jesus" in a world desperate for His touch.
Medical Teams International (MTI) (www.medicalteams.org)
• Give to the relief fund
• Sending medical teams and supplies
Medical Teams International (MTI) has already sent three medical teams to Haiti and will be sending more teams this week. An air shipment of medical supplies, enough to help 45,500 people over a 3 month period, is en route. The shipment is valued at $1.2M.
Mercy Corps (www.mercycorps.org)
• Give to the relief fund
Mercy Corps will focus first on the immediate humanitarian needs on the
ground—for water, food, temporary shelter supplies and much more. As
the most basic needs are met, Mercy Corps’ response team will
transition from relief to long-term rebuilding and recovery efforts.
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) (www.maf.org)
• Give to the relief fund.
• Collecting names of people who want to volunteer in the future. Check out their website for updates.
• MAF currently has missionaries in Haiti, including two of Rolling Hills’ own who are scheduled to leave in March to work long-term there.
Disaster response is an MAF area of expertise. After an initial needs assessment is completed, the ministry will coordinate logistics and provide air transportation for aid agencies working within Haiti. In times of disaster, MAF often takes government and relief officials on flights to survey and assess damage and develop a response plan.
Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org)
• Give to the relief fund
The first Samaritan’s Purse cargo plane arrived in Haiti Wednesday with emergency relief supplies for victims of the massive earthquake that rocked the country on Tuesday. The initial shipment included shelter material, hygiene kits, and water purification kits, as well as members of our disaster response team.
